After being selected to the National League All-Star team, Patrick Corbin will aim to show that he belongs on Friday as he guides the Arizona Diamondbacks into the second contest of its four-game series versus the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. The left-hander has 10 wins under his belt this season - with the first coming at the expense of Milwaukee on April 6. The NL West-leading Diamondbacks snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday as Martin Prado ripped a two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning en route to a 5-3 triumph.

Milwaukee's Ryan Braun missed that game - and will skip at least two more - after he was placed on the bereavement list due to a family medical issue. The Brewers did have the services of Norichika Aoki, who returned from elbow stiffness and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Aoki, who went 2-for-4 on Thursday, is 18-for-39 in his career against the Diamondbacks.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers LH Tom Gorzelanny (1-2, 2.12 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (10-1, 2.40)

Gorzelanny will look to celebrate his 31st birthday by snapping a two-game losing streak. The veteran hurler deserved a better fate in his last trip to the mound as he yielded only two runs and struck out eight in six innings versus the New York Mets. Gorzelanny, who owns a 3-1 career mark against the Diamondbacks, has not allowed a hit in two scoreless innings of relief versus Arizona.

Corbin rebounded from his lone loss of the season by scattering three hits and matching a season high with 10 strikeouts in eight sterling innings against Colorado on Sunday. The 23-year-old evened his career mark at 1-1 against the Brewers by notching the win in a two-run, six-inning effort in April. Corbin has yielded a home run in each of his last five contests after allowing just four in his previous 13.

WALK-OFFS

1. Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt, who is riding an eight-game hitting streak, is 13-for-31 in his career versus Milwaukee pitching.

2. Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy belted his fourth homer in five games and has driven in seven runs during that span.

3. Diamondbacks LF Jason Kubel has gone hitless in all but one of his last eight contests.

PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 4, Brewers 3
