RHP Matt Garza (5-1, 3.22 ERA) makes his 11th start and fourth at home Saturday night as he seeks his sixth consecutive quality start. Garza earned his fourth straight victory in an 8-2 Cubs triumph on July 8 at the White Sox, throwing 7.0 innings while allowing one earned run and five hits while striking out six. He's 2-1 with a 4.22 ERA all-time against the Cardinals. The Cubs are 7-3 in his 10 starts.
RHP Carlos Villanueva (2-5) recorded his sixth quality start in a losing effort on Friday. He retired the final 12 Cardinal batters he faced after allowing Carlos Beltran's single to lead off the third inning. He fell to 5-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 28 career games (nine starts) against St. Louis and is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three games against the Cardinals this season.
