LHP Jorge De La Rosa will lead off the Colorado rotation when they return from the All-Star break as he takes the mound against Chicago next Friday. De La Rosa has alternated success and failure in his last 10 games, picking up four wins since May 22 but none in succession. He is 2-2 in his last six starts and he has not allowed more than three runs in any.
1B Todd Helton notched his 700th career multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 showing against Los Angeles on Sunday. Helton has the fourth-most multi-hit games among active players, behind Yankees Derek Jeter (971), Ichiro Suzuki (819) and Alex Rodriguez (818).
RF Michael Cuddyer tuned up for the Home Run Derby with a big showing on Sunday against the Dodgers, leading to all three runs in a 3-1 win. Cuddyer hit a two-run home run for a little cushion after starting the game with an RBI single in the first inning. Cuddyer was 0-for-7 in the series before his big day, which included his 16th home run.
CF Dexter Fowler provided a spark at the top of the Colorado lineup on Sunday against Ricky Nolasco and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fowler had two hits in his first two at-bats and scored a first-inning run, though he did leave four runners on base after going hitless in his following three at-bats.
RHP Jhoulys Chacin shut down the Los Angeles for the third straight game, but he got just enough support to tally the win a night after Tyler Chatwood allowed one run in eight innings and lost.. Chacin allowed six hits and one run in five six innings to continue a great stretch. He is 6-1 since June 11 with a 1.94 ERA and his nine wins on the year are the most at the break for Colorado since 2010.
