OF Khris Davis will rejoin the Brewers Tuesday after he was recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Davis has appeared in 15 games for Milwaukee this season with three hits -- two of them doubles. In 68 games with Nashville, Davis hit .251 with 12 doubles, 12 home runs and 33 RBI. Davis replaces Ryan Braun on the Brewers roster.
RHP Donovan Hand starts for the fourth time this season Tuesday when the Brewers host San Diego at Miller Park. Hand's last start came July 4 in Washington, where he received no decision in the Brewers' 8-5 loss to the Nationals after allowing three runs in five innings. Hand is 0-1 with a 3.07 ERA in his previous three starts this season and 0-0 with a 3.44 ERA in 12 relief appearances. He has never faced the Padres.
LHP Tom Gorzelanny saw his streak of scoreless innings end at 13 after Jesus Guzman's second-inning home run. Gorzelanny allowed a season-high five runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. Gorzelanny dropped to 1-4 with a 2.47 ERA in 36 appearances this season and is 0-1 with 2.49 ERA in four starts.
LF Ryan Braun was suspended for the remainder of the season Monday by Major League Baseball for violations of the Basic Agreement and its Joint Drug Prevention and Testing Program. Braun will miss the last 65 games of the Brewers' season after hitting .298 with nine home runs and 38 RBIs, while being limited to just 61 games due to a hand injury.
RHP Alfredo Figaro was sharp Monday in his first rehab appearance, throwing 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the Brewers' affiliate in the rookie-level Arizona League. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four. Figaro has been out since June 24 due to a strained right oblique.
C Jonathan Lucroy doubled and drove in two runs Monday as the Brewers lost to San Diego, 5-3. Lucroy has hits in 10 of his last 11 games, going 16-for-38 with six homers and 13 RBIs in those contests. Since going 0-for-4 against the Dodgers May 20, Lucroy has raised his average to .285.
