1B Mitch Moreland was second in the order Monday, the fourth different No. 2 hitter for Texas in the last four games. Moreland went 0-for-4.

RHP Yu Darvish returned from the 15-day disabled list to make Monday's start against the Yankees. He went 6 1/3 shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out four. Darvish earned his team-leading ninth win. He threw 90 pitches, with 60 for strikes.

DH Lance Berkman took batting practice Monday. He went on the disabled list July 7 with left hip inflammation and is eligible to return to the active roster. Berkman doesn't have a timetable, but hopes to return soon.

RHP Colby Lewis made a rehab start Monday for Double-A Frisco. He worked three innings, gave up five hits and three earned runs on 56 pitches. Lewis has been out all season since having surgery to repair a torn lexor tendon in his throwing elbow last season.

RHP Matt Garza was acquired by the Rangers from the Cubs for RHP Justin Grimm, Triple-A INF Mike Olt, Class A RHP C.J. Edwards and two players to be named. He helps solidify a Rangers staff that's been decimated by injuries this season. The 29-year-old veteran is 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA in 71 innings this season. Since June 11, he is 5-0 with a 1.24 ERA in 43 2/3 innings. "In our opinion he was the best guy in the market and we wanted to make a push to get him," Texas GM Jon Daniels said.

RHP Alexi Ogando is scheduled to come off the DL and start Tuesday. He was placed on the DL on June 9, retroactive to June 6, with right shoulder inflammation and made three starts for Triple-A Round Rock. Ogando has been on the DL twice this season. He is 1-1 with a 10.03 ERA in eight career games (two starts) against New York.
