INF/OF Elian Herrera was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday when the Dodgers designated LHP Ted Lilly for assignment. Herrera went 2-for-7 in three games with Los Angeles earlier this year.

RF Yasiel Puig picked up his third straight two-hit game Thursday night, raising his average to .583 since Tuesday. Puig now has 21 multi-hit games in his first 45 contests.

1B Adrian Gonzalez continued his impressive July with two RBIs on Thursday night against Cincinnati. Gonzalez is batting .318 with 16 RBIs and five home runs in 20 games this month.

RHP Zack Greinke saw his five-game winning streak snapped in his worst outing in more than a month in a 5-2 loss to Cincinnati on Thursday. Greinke allowed six hits and four runs in seven innings after having allowed just one run in his last 22 innings. "He's a very good pitcher with a lot of weapons," said Reds RF Jay Bruce, who homered off Greinke. "You wait for something you can handle. Take advantage of mistakes, of opportunities you have, and we did that tonight."

LHP Ted Lilly was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Thursday. Lilly, who was activated from the disabled list Wednesday, went 0-2 with a 5.09 ERA in 23 innings for Los Angeles this season. He was plagued by injuries throughout the year and was at odds with the organization regarding his handling before his departure. Lilly was going to be placed in the bullpen, but the team was uncertain if he could bounce back quickly enough to be of any use in relief.

LHP Clayton Kershaw will seek his 10th win of the season and fifth win in six games against Cincinnati on Thursday night. Kershaw leads the majors in ERA, opposing batting average and WHIP and ranks second in strikeouts.
