RHP Jeremy Hellickson, scheduled to pitch Thursday night's rained-out game in Boston, will now open the three-game series against the Yankees in New York Friday night. He is 5-0 in his last six starts, the Rays winning all six games. This is his first appearance against the Yankees this season.

RF Wil Myers had to wait an extra day before pursuing Carl Crawford's club record of eight straight multi-hit games. Myers is on an 18-for-36 tear and is batting .322 since his recall from the minors.

RHP Chris Archer, who has won his last three starts and is 4-0 with two no-decisions since last losing June 18, will now, because of the rainout, pitch Saturday in New York instead of Friday. Archer said he received some advice from Curt Schilling (doing the game for ESPN) Wednesday; to keep working on getting better. "He said he always felt like he could do better. His career was incredible, but he said, 'I was always striving to get better.'" Archer said. "So for me, my rookie year in the big leagues, having a small taste of success, hearing that from him is encouraging. Like, 'Hey, I can do better. Don't break the routine. Stay on the path. Stay on course.' It was a good conversation."

LHP David Price or RHP Roberto Hernandez will pitch Monday night's makeup game against the Red Sox in Boston. Price pitched a complete game and won Wednesday night after Hernandez suffered his 11th loss of the season Tuesday. The Rays are 22-1 in the last 23 games started by Price, Matt Moore, Jeremy Hellickson and Chris Archer.
