CF Leonys Martin really seems to be enjoying the leadoff spot. He posted his second straight multi-hit game Wednesday going 2-for-4. He has hits in all four career games at leadoff to begin the current homestand.

RHP Yu Darvish will pitch Thursday against Arizona, his third start since returning from the disabled list. He leads the majors with 172 strikeouts. He's faced Arizona just once before, taking a no-decision May 27.

DH Lance Berkman has yet to make a decision about his future with the club. The veteran switch hitter hasn't played since hurting his hip July 6. Speculation is that Berkman is considering retirement, but he said Wednesday that he hasn't discussed hanging up his spikes with GM Jon Daniels.

RF Nelson Cruz is among the players linked in the Biogenesis scandal, and reports are that suspensions from Major League Baseball could come down later this week. Cruz has been in contact with his agent, but has little else to say about possible sanctions. "I have no control over that," he said. "I'm here to play baseball." He went 2-for-3 Wednesday and hit his 25th homer of the season.

3B Adrian Beltre drilled a 2-2 offering from Angels RHP Michael Kohn into the seats in left field for a walk-off homer Wednesday. He finished 2-for-4, including his 23rd homer of the season.

LHP Matt Harrison (lower-back soreness) had his first rehab start Wednesday for Double-A Frisco. He went 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two. He threw 31 pitches Wednesday, and he's expected to go 45 pitches in a Sunday rehab start.
