2B Nick Franklin snapped an 0-for-27 slump with his first-inning RBI triple Wednesday. He went 1-for-4 and scored two runs Wednesday.

RHP Brandon Maurer pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings out of the Seattle bullpen Wednesday, but it wasn't always pretty. He walked five of the 16 batters he faced. Maurer and four other relievers combined to throw seven scoreless innings as the Mariners rallied from a 7-2 deficit to beat Toronto 9-7.

RHP Aaron Harang couldn't even get through the third inning of Wednesday's game, marking the fourth time in 19 starts this season that he has failed to make it to the fifth. He allowed five hits and seven runs in two innings of work, having been pulled after giving up back-to-back home runs to open the third. The performance raised Harang's season ERA to 5.79.

C Humberto Quintero hit his second home run in less than a week Wednesday, when he gave the Mariners a 9-7 lead with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Quintero has now hit safely in five consecutive games, going 8-for-19 (.421) in that span.

LHP Joe Saunders is scheduled to make his fourth interleague start of the season Friday. The former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher is 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA in his previous three starts against NL teams this season. That includes a 1 2/3-inning performance in a blowout loss to Pittsburgh, during which Saunders gave up six earned runs. He's scheduled to take the mound against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, after Seattle's off day.
