LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - HBO has given a pilot order to "Deadwood" and "Luck" writer David Milch's "The Money" and it has found its leading man, TheWrap has learned.
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson will play James Castman in the one-hour drama pilot about wealth and corruption among the super elite. Castman, an American mogul and his family's patriarch, wields his power and influence to expand his media empire and control his family.
Gleeson's long list of film credits include "Troy," "Gangs of New York," and "Braveheart."
Milch will write and executive produce the pilot with executive producers Art Linson and John Linson ("Sons of Anarchy"). Frank Rich ("Veep") is also exec producing. Eric Roth ("House of Cards"), Sarah Caplan ("Political Animals") and Justin Chadwick ("The Other Boleyn Girl") are co-executive producers. Chadwick is also set to direct.
Gleeson is represented by Principal Entertainment and The Agency in Ireland.
