DE Sean Lissemore was traded by the Cowboys to the Chargers for an undisclosed draft choice.

DT Sean Lissemore was traded to the San Diego Chargers for a seventh round pick in 2015. Lissemore was a 3-4 end who wasn't a good fit at tackle in the 4-3. The Chargers run the 3-4 defense. His departure comes one year after he signed a three-year contract extension to be part of the Cowboys future. Lissemore, however, didn't fit the 4-3 from the start. He was passed on the depth chart in training camp by Ben Bass, Nick Hayden and Landon Cohen.

WR Robert Meachem made a late run at a roster spot by catching four passes for 23 yards against the 49ers. But he suffered a concussion in the third quarter and didn't return. He also won't be returning as a Charger after be let go in a move that was expensive for the Chargers in that he will count more than $6 million against the cap.

OLB Dwight Freeney is showing there's plenty of tread on his tires as he's set to enter his 12th season. The Pro Bowler was active in the preseason games and seems comfortable in the Chargers' 3-4 alignment after playing in it for the first time last year in his final season at Indianapolis. What he doesn't have to worry about his the final 53 roster, which he embraces. "That's the coaches' job to figure that out," he said.

DE Damik Scafe was placed on reserve/injured by the Chargers Sunday.

DT Drake Nevis was assigned on waivers from the Colts to the Chargers Sunday.

RB Fozzy Whittaker continues to run well and with a purpose. He made a heck of a run at a roster spot in the final preseason game and it paid off with him making the team. "All I can do is perform the way I know how to; leave it all on the field," he said. "Whatever ever else happens, that is out of my hands."

TE Ladarius Green had a solid preseason and has has earned praise from his coaches. "We have a lot of great weapons on our team," Green said. "We have a lot of veterans on the team." TE Antonio Gates is both, and Green is being wise in noticing how Gates goes about his business. "He's really done a nice job every since the OTAs," coach Mike McCoy said of Green, a second-year player. "We have been on him; he is a talented, young player that has got some potential for us. He has a great guy to learn from. (He) sees the way Gates practices every day and how he does things and I think he follows his lead. The way he runs routes, the communication."

LB Terrell Manning was assigned on waivers from the Packers to the Chargers Sunday.

ILB Manti Te'o was once penciled in as a starter. But the rookie continues to battle what is being described as a foot sprain by the Chargers and he has returned to wearing a walking boot. Te'o, the team's second-round pick, hasn't practiced since getting hurt on Aug. 8. Instead he spends most of his day with trainer James Collings. "James has a plan for him," coach Mike McCoy said when asked for an update. "We are going to take it one day at a time. They're going to do whatever it takes to get him ready to play. I'm not a doctor, so I don't have the answers of why things are done a certain way, but there is a reason he has it back on."
