RHP Shawn Tolleson was transferred to the 60-day disabled list after suffering a hip injury that occurred during rehab for a back injury. The move cleared a spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster for LHP Onelki Garcia.

RF Yasiel Puig has slumped recently, but he delivered the Dodgers' only run Wednesday with a solo home run. The shot was Puig's 16th of the year, the most for a Dodger rookie since Raul Mondesi had 16 in 1994.

LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu made his 20th quality start in 27 outings this year despite a rough beginning against Arizona. Ryu still suffered his sixth loss this year, but after allowing three runs in the first two innings, he finished with just those three blemishes in six innings against the Diamondbacks. Since winning six straight from July 5-Aug. 13, he's lost three of four starts. He skipped his previous turn in the rotation due to back stiffness.

LHP Onelki Garcia had his contract selected from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, and he came in to walk the lone batter he faced against Arizona in his major league debut. Garcia combined to go 2-4 with a 2.90 ERA in 35 games (six starts) with Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Albuquerque.

RHP Zack Greinke has been nearly unhittable in recent weeks, with 25 strikeouts in his past three starts (2-0, 2.08 ERA). He could be in for a wake-up call Thursday against the Giants, one of just a few teams who've pummeled him in his career. Greinke has a career 5.08 ERA against San Francisco.

SS Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double for his fifth multi-hit game in his last seven. He's batting .393 (11-for-28) with three doubles, three homers and six RBIs since Sept. 4.

OF Matt Kemp could be closer to making a return, as he reportedly is utilizing a running machine and could resume running soon. He has been relegated to just batting in simulated games after aggravating a right hamstring injury during his recovery from a left ankle sprain.
