RB Vick Ballard will remain No. 1 on the depth chart for now with Ahmad Bradshaw healthy and ready to go. "You go with the hot hand, but we're going to try to get Ahmad his touches. Vick did a great job. He ran hard (against Oakland). We know how well he protected in the pass game. So we're never going to discount that. But, you got a playmaker in Ahmad and don't forget Donnie (Donald) Brown," Pagano said. "We've got to make sure that there's a guy that's a home-run hitter. We're not going to just let him sit idle. There's a guy that you can design and have packages and have plays for that can do certain things for you. I feel like we've got three guys that can do great things for us."

Rookie OLB Bjoern Werner is now listed as the primary backup to starter Erik Walden at Sam (strong-side) linebacker. Werner, the Colts' top draft pick last spring, had spent most of training camp as the primary backup to rush outside linebacker Robert Mathis.

ILB Pat Angerer (concussion) has been cleared to resume practice. Angerer went through a full practice on Wednesday. He is expected to play Sunday against Miami.

ILB Kavell Conner (ankle) is listed as day-to-day. Conner was held out of Wednesday's workout. A decision on his availability will be made later in the week.

Look for ILB Kelvin Sheppard to possibly start against the Dolphins if ILB Pat Angerer is unable to play this week. Sheppard replaced Angerer in last week's home and season opener against Oakland. He ended the game with six total tackles. It also depends on the availability of ILB Kavell Conner.

ILB Jerrell Freeman (quad) saw limited work on Wednesday. Freeman, though, is still expected to be in the starting lineup Sunday against Miami.

CB Cassius Vaughn will continue to return kickoffs if WR David Reed is unable to play this week against Miami. Vaughn handled the kickoff chores in last week's win over the Raiders.

TE Dwayne Allen (hip) is listed as day-to-day. He did not practice Wednesday but remains hopeful of playing Sunday against Miami.

OLB Cam Johnson, who was acquired in a trade with San Francisco early last week, is now the primary backup to Mathis. Johnson is thought to be a versatile outside linebacker who can be a backup at both Sam and Rush linebacker.

WR/KR David Reed (concussion/quad) has been cleared to practice concussion-wise. He did not practice due to his quad injury. Reed might be available to play against the Dolphins on Sunday.

WR T.Y. Hilton was in for 23 offensive snaps in last week's home and season opener with Oakland. He was targeted five times and caught three passes. Expect Hilton to get more work and more looks against Miami this week.
