DE Mario Williams rested his nagging ankle and practiced on a limited basis.

OG Kraig Urbik is still bothered by a balky knee and was limited in practice.

CB Leodis McKelvin is still slowed by a hamstring injury and is not practicing fully.

RB C.J. Spiller has an ankle sprain, and he is being held out of practice in the hope that rest and treatment will enable him to play. "If it was a Sunday game I'd definitely say I'd be out there," he said. "I'm going to do everything I can to position myself to be out there. If I can get to at least 80, 85 (percent) I think that would be good enough for me to play."

RB Fred Jackson has a sprain MCL in his left knee, but he said he's going to wear a knee brace and try to play. He was limited in practice Tuesday.

FS Jairus Byrd was a full participant in practice for the first time, and there's a chance that he could make his season debut Thursday.

SS Aaron Williams was limited in practice due a back contusion suffered in the Baltimore game.
