Denver Broncos - PlayerWatch

--RB C.J. Anderson might be in line for an increased workload this week. Anderson has been inactive all season after making the roster as an undrafted free agent, but Ronnie Hillman's fourth-quarter fumble last week could open the door for Anderson to make his regular-season debut.

--QB Peyton Manning missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, but is expected to return Thursday. Manning was at practice on the sideline, and walked without evidence of a limp.

--DE Shaun Phillips missed Wednesday's practice because of a hamstring problem. Phillips leads the Broncos with 6.5 sacks.

--WR Wes Welker did not practice Wednesday because of an ankle problem, but is expected to practice Thursday and should play Sunday.

--LB Wesley Woodyard practiced on a limited basis Wednesday after missing a second consecutive game with a neck injury incurred against Dallas on Oct. 6. Woodyard said he expects to play against Washington on Sunday.

--TE Joel Dreessen was held out of practice because of a knee problem. He is expected to return Thursday. Dreessen has had two knee surgeries this year.

--G Chris Kuper was held out of practice because of what was listed as an ankle injury. Kuper made his first start of the 2013 season last Sunday at Indianapolis and gave up one of the Broncos' four sacks.

--C J.D. Walton is one week into the three-week window of practice during which the Broncos must decide whether to restore him to the 53-man roster or keep him on PUP for the rest of the season. Walton was on the physically unable to perform list following a second surgery to repair a fractured ankle, but began practicing Oct. 16.

--OT Orlando Franklin did not practice Wednesday. He missed the Colts game with sprains in his left knee and ankle, suffered on Oct. 13 against Jacksonville. With the Broncos' bye coming after this week's game, they could opt to rest him, which would give him three weeks off before a potential return at San Diego in Week 10.

--LB Von Miller was credited by with six hurries in his return to action last Sunday, even though he didn't finish with any sacks.

--WR Eric Decker did not practice Wednesday because of a toe injury. He is expected to return Thursday.

--CB Champ Bailey sat out Wednesday's practice, three days after aggravating his sprained left foot in the second quarter against the Colts. He underwent what coach John Fox called "a battery of tests" and is considered "week to week." Bailey missed the first five regular-season games with the injury, which he suffered in a preseason loss at Seattle Aug. 17.

--QB Brock Osweiler got the bulk of the repetitions Wednesday as Peyton Manning sat out to rest a sore ankle. In recent weeks, Osweiler's first-team work has been minimal as the Broncos go through their normal regular-season preparations, so the chance to run the offense all day Wednesday was "very beneficial," he said.
