He now has exactly 13,000 receptions over his stellar 17-year career. Gonzalez broke his own NFL record, posting his 16th straight season with at least 50 receptions. Gonzalez also joined wide receiver Jerry Rice (17) as the only two players in NFL history to post 16 seasons with 50-plus catches.

--WR Darius Johnson was having the game of his life against the Saints as an audience on NFL Network watched. And then he made a crucial error that assured that play, and not his highlights, was what they remembered. The wide receiver's fumble in the red zone cost the Falcons a chance at the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. The play loomed large after Atlanta's 17-13 defeat. The mistake overshadowed Johnson's six catches for 67 yards, both highs for his young career.
--RB Steven Jackson rushed for 63 yards on 16 carries against the Saints, both were season highs.
--CB Desmond Trufant (thigh) was limited in practice on Wednesday, but is expected to play against Buffalo.
--QB Matt Ryan, much to the dismay of several fans, with the Falcons trailing 14-10 late in the second quarter against the Saints, elected to slide on a third-and-10 instead of trying to barge into the end zone for a touchdown. Ryan did a nifty job of eluding pressure and got down at the 6-yard line. He appeared to have enough room to make it to the 3, where he would have had to fly over or power through a couple of defenders. "It was early in the game," Ryan said. "You've got to take the points. You've got to make the right play. I felt like that was the right play."
