Car bomb kills Somali lawmaker: police

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - A Somali lawmaker was killed in the capital, Mogadishu, on Friday when a bomb planted under his car exploded at the entrance to the heavily fortified compound of the presidential palace, a senior police official said.

"He went to pray in a mosque inside the presidential palace. When he came back to drive the car, it exploded," said Abdikadir Hussein, a senior police officer based at a checkpoint at the palace's entrance.

Hussein identified the legislator as Warsame Faysal. Other police officers confirmed Faysal's death.
