Flyers 3, Devils 2 (OT): Brayden Schenn overcame a gruesome injury to score 1:50 into overtime as visiting Philadelphia skated to its eighth win in 10 outings.
After Stephen Gionta hit the goal post early in overtime, the Flyers converted on the next rush up the ice. Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann faked a shot just inside the blue line before feeding Schenn, who stopped the puck with his right skate before sending it past Martin Brodeur (25 saves) from the right circle. The game-winning goal capped a tough night for Schenn, who suffered a long gash across his midsection after being clipped by a skate in the second period.
Captain Claude Giroux scored a power-play goal on a day that he expressed dismay after being left off the Olympic roster for Team Canada. Scott Hartnell also tallied to extend his career-high point streak to eight games and Ray Emery turned aside 31 shots as Philadelphia finished its six-game road trip with a 5-1-0 mark.
Michael Ryder scored his team-leading 14th goal to forge at tie with 29.6 seconds remaining the third period. Adam Henrique also tallied and Jaromir Jagr notched an assist for his 1,723rd point - tying him with Hall-of-Famer Mario Lemieux for seventh place on the NHL's all-time list.
With the score tied at 1-1, Hartnell wired a cross-ice diagonal feed to Giroux on the right wing. The captain responded in kind with a return pass to Hartnell, who wristed the puck between the pads of Brodeur at 9:49 of the third period. New Jersey answered while short-handed as defenseman Marek Zidlicky avoided a diving Giroux before feeding Ryder at the doorstep.
