LB Xavius Boyd was signed by the Bills Tuesday (July 22). Boyd entered the league earlier this year as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens. He was placed on reserve/injured and subsequently waived. The 6-2, 243-pound Western Kentucky product led the Hilltoppers in tackles with 103, tackles for loss with (15.5), sacks with (8.5) and had one forced fumble during the 2013 season. Boyd is 23 years old and a native of St. Petersburg, Fla.
LB Darrin Kitchens was waived/injured by the Bills Tuesday (July 22). He will be placed on reserve/injured after clearing waivers Wednesday.
DT Marcel Dareus was expected to report to training camp Tuesday after having his flight to Buffalo on Monday cancelled due to weather. Dareus, granted a leave from the team after failing a conditioning test, entered a pre-trial program in Alabama in an effort to have felony drug charges dismissed. Dareus endured a tumultuous offseason that included numerous traffic violations following an alleged race against teammate Jerry Hughes on May 30. Dareus is currently on the active/non-football injury list and could face a suspension from the league.
LT Cordy Glenn remains out with an undisclosed illness and replaced by rookie seventh-round pick Seantrel Henderson.
PK Dustin Hopkins is not competing for the field-goal kicker job against Dan Carpenter and will need to earn a roster spot as a kickoff specialist, according to coach Doug Marrone.
QB Jeff Tuel took reps with the second team offense Tuesday, and coach Doug Marrone said he is in an open battle with Thad Lewis for the backup job to EJ Manuel.
