Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, Nov. 29

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday up 0.16 percent against the previous trading day. The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 2.04 points to 1,283.94. A total of 150,046 shares worth about 1.2 billion Lao kip (about 152,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks lost ground on Friday as investors sought to lock in gains after sharp surge in the previous trading day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed down 65.25 points, or 0.41 percent, from Thursday at 15,661.87.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 0.9 points, or 0.04 percent, to close at 2,044.87. Trading volume stood at 241 million shares worth 3.35 trillion won (3.17 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.63 percent higher on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index rose by 38.86 points to 6,208.82. The all-share index also increased by 21.15 points, or 0.56 percent, to 3,776.73.

Trading volume reached 2.08 billion shares worth 10.18 billion pesos (232.89 million U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 92.2 points, or 0.39 percent, at 23,881.29 on Friday.

Turnover totaled 48.12 billion HK dollars compared with Thursday's 63.34 billion HK dollars (1 U.S. dollar equals to 7.75 HK dollar).

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Friday with the weighted index up 44.4 points, or 0.53 percent, to close at 8,406. 83, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 85.01 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.87 billion U.S. dollars).

SHENZHEN -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 8,542.61 points on Friday, down 5.76 points, or 0.07 percent.

A Share Index: 9,675.89 points, down 6.52 points, or 0.07 percent;

B Share Index: 6,046.19 points, up 78.29 points, or 1.31 percent;

SHANGHAI -- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 2,220.50 points on Friday, up 0. 05 percent, or 1.13 points.

A Share Index: 2,324.35 points, up 1.12 points, or 0.05 percent;

B Share Index: 255.55 points, up 1.52 points, or 0.60 percent;

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,812.72 up 5.12 points or 0.28 percent, and the Emas was at 12,572.04 up 21.11 points or 0.17 percent.

There were 347 gainers, 402 losers and 315 counters traded unchanged.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 10.02 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 3,176.35.

A total of 1.51 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (893.1 million U.S. dollars).

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 22.51 points, or 0.53 percent, to a level of 4,256.44 on Friday.

Some 79,945 transactions were booked, involving 3.27 billion shares worth 3.18 trillion rupiah (about 265.34 million U.S. dollars).

MUMBAI -- The benchmark index of the Indian equities market closed higher on Friday with the 30-scrip sensitive index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, closing at 2,0791.93 points, 257.02 points or 1.25 percent higher from the previous close of 2,0534.91 points.

The Sensex had a turnover of 6.03 billion rupees (about 97.18 million U.S. dollars).
