Landslide kills 10 Chinese railway workers


LANZHOU, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A landslide left ten people dead and 21 injured in northwest China's Gansu Province on Wednesday night, local authorities said on Thursday afternoon.

The landslide occurred around 8:30 p.m., burying workers' prefabricated houses in the city of Longnan, according to the provincial work safety authority.

The houses were in a residential area for workers digging a tunnel for the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway.

The injured are being treated in a local hospital. Three are in serious condition.
