Hosts Myanmar start off in badminton at Southeast Asia Games

NAY PYI TAW, Myanmar, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Hosts Myanmar had something to cheer for as their players won in the badminton events of the 27th Southeast Asia Games here on Tuesday.

Min Aung Gyi beat Cambodia's Chanmara, and his compatriot Tun Myo Min defeated Lao's Outhaithany P. in the men's singles as the badminton tournament kicked off at Nay Pyi Taw's Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium (C).

Before them, Myanmar's players suffered loses in the men's and women's doubles, failing to break the lowliness of Myanmar's deadlocked sport.

Its Opening Ceremony will start on Wednesday evening at Nay Pyi Taw's 30,000-seat Wunna Theikdi Stadium as the whole nation awake to watch it on television.
