NAY PYI TAW -- A torch has been set on fire at Yangon's Thuwunna Indoor Stadium and is on the way to Nay Pyi Taw, 320 km north of Yangon, for the official opening of the 27th Southeast Asia Games scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (local time) in the capital's 30,000-seat Wunna Theikdi Stadium on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI -- Indian customs department Wednesday seized 179 kg of red sandalwood, 2 kg of gold bars and 5 kg of drugs from the city airport and arrested 11 persons, including five Chinese nationals, said local media.

Airport customs Assistant Commissioner R. S. Meena said 179 kg of red sandalwood worth 180,000 rupees (3,000 U.S. dollars) in India was seized at the NSC Bose International Airport, according to Press Trust of India. (India-Chinese-Arrest)

TOKYO -- The Japanese government on Wednesday submitted a draft document detailing its medium-term defense strategy guidelines at a meeting of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

DHAKA -- UN-brokered talks have visibly yielded no outcome to end election crisis as Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernandez- Taranco wrapped up his six-day Bangladesh visit with merely the hope that the "two major parties will continue discussions".
