Indonesia prepares more fuels during Islamic festivity
JAKARTA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has provided more fuel during the celebration of Islamic festivity of Eid al-Fitr as the demand surges.
Indonesian Energy and Mines Minister Jero Wacic disclosed on Thursday that the government forecast the demand of premium fuel, Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) scale up from 15 days before and after the festivity that falls on July 28 and 29.
The demand of premium fuel was estimated to rise by 14 percent to 91.839 kilo liter per day, Minister Wacik said.
For ATF, the demand was also forecast to scale up by 8.6 percent to 11,500 kilo liter per day, he told a press conference at the State Palace.
The demand of liquefied petroleum gas was projected to increase by 8.5 percent to 19,600 metric ton per day, said Wacik.
But the demand for diesel fuel was estimated to scale down by 4. 9 percent to 38,628 kilo liter per day, he revealed.
The minister said that the government has already prepared supply for the rising demand.
According to the data from the transport ministry, about 30 million Indonesians will return to their hometowns for festivity celebration, which has been a tradition in the world's largest Muslim country.
