KABUL -- About 33 Taliban militants were killed while 15 others injured during military operations across Afghanistan since early Monday, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, two police and three militants were killed when Taliban launched an attack on security checkpoints in Nahri Sarraj District of southern Helmand province.(Afghanistan-Taliban)

SRINAGAR -- The troops of India and Pakistan Tuesday targeted each other's positions along line-of-control (LoC), which divides the disputed Kashmir region, officials said.

The two sides, using light weapons, heavy artillery and mortars, fired on each other's posts in Poonch sector, about 185 km southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian- controlled Kashmir.(Kashmir-Skirmish)

NEW DELHI -- A total of 44 Indian nurses arrived in the southern state of Kerala Tuesday, after being stranded in war-torn Libya for several days, a senior government official said.

The Indian External Affairs Ministry helped the nurses return to their home country, after Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy sought Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj's intervention earlier this month.(India-Lybia-Nurses)

DHAKA -- About 28 hours after the accident occurred, Bangladesh rescuers failed to locate any trace of the sunken ferry as they have been facing severe difficulties due to high waves and strong winds.
