1st LD: One killed, two injured in terrorist attack at airbase in SW Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least one terrorist was killed and two persons were injured on Thursday night in a terrorist attack at an airbase of Pakistan Air Force in the country's southwestern province of Balochistan, local media reported.
According to the reports, the incident took place when a group of terrorists tried to sneak into the Smungli Airbase of Pakistan Air Force but security personnel foiled the attempt.
The terrorists opened fire at security personnel with automatic guns and hurled seven to eight hand grenades at them.
In the retaliation, security personnel killed one of the terrorists.
The contingents of security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the Combined Military Hospital.
All the roads leading to the airbase have been closed.
Army helicopters are hovering over the area as the security personnel are still exchanging fire with the attackers.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
