Lotte-investment plan

SEOUL, March 17 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Group, South Korea's fifth-largest conglomerate, said Sunday that it will invest 6.8 trillion won (US$6.1 billion) and hire 15,500 new employees this year as it pushes to strengthen its retail business across Asia.

The proposed investment will be made in distribution, petrochemical, construction, hotel and food business, a Lotte spokesman said, adding it plans to open three Lotte Department stores in Weihai and Chengdu in China and Jakarta this year while opening a duty free shop in the Indonesian capital.
