SEOUL, March 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's largest automaker Hyundai Motor Co. sold 31,753 vehicles in Europe in February, up 1.4 percent from a year ago, industry data showed Tuesday.
The data posted on the Web site of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association showed that Hyundai's market share in Europe edged up to 3.8 percent from 3.4 percent a year ago.
Hyundai's smaller sister company Kia Motors Corp. sold 22,364 units in Europe, down 1.1 percent from a year ago. Still, its market share also increased to 2.7 percent from 2.4 percent in 2012.
Hyundai and Kia ranked sixth in terms of sales in Europe last month as their combined market share accounted for 6.5 percent.
Germany's biggest automaker Volkswagen Group dominated the market with 24.7 percent, followed by PSA Group with 12.4 percent, Renault Group with 9.5 percent, GM Group with 7.1 percent and Fiat Group with 6.8 percent.
Toyota Group's market share stood at 4.2 percent in February, according to the data.
