SEOUL, March 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se held a telephone conservation with the Qatari prime minister and foreign minister, and discussed ways to promote bilateral relations, the foreign ministry said Friday.
During the telephone talks, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani asked South Korea to send a high-ranking official to attend an international conference on Darfur, to be held in Doha on April 7-8.
Yun and the Qatari minister took note of expanding cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of energy and construction, the ministry said in a statement.
Yun also asked Qatar to support South Korean companies that eye various construction projects with the Gulf state preparing to host the 2022 World Cup, according to the statement.
