SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean builders' business sentiment rebounded in March from the previous month, but it remained far below par, a poll showed Monday.
The monthly construction business sentiment index reached 60.3 for March, up 6 points from the previous month, according to the survey by the Construction Economy Research Institute of Korea.
It was the first on-month increase in three months. An index reading below 100 indicates pessimists outnumber optimists.
The slight improvement was attributed to a low comparison base and seasonal factors. In February, the index tumbled to a 30-month low.
The index for large construction companies was 69.2 last month, down 3.5 points from the previous month. The figure for small builders rose 2.6 points to 42.6 while that for medium-sized firms rose 18.7 points to 66.7.
The survey is the latest sign of a prolonged slump in South Korea's construction sector.
