SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's largest automaker Hyundai Motor Co. said Monday that its March sales increased 0.9 percent from a year earlier on strong overseas demand.
Hyundai Motor sold 388,539 vehicles last month, compared with 385,080 units a year ago, the company said in a statement. It represents a 6 percent hike from 366,446 vehicles sold in February.
Its domestic sales increased 0.1 percent on-year to 56,056 vehicles, while its overseas sales jumped 1 percent to 332,483 units last month.
The company said its exports from cars produced at home dipped 28 percent on-year to 86,633 units as it ended the decades-long practice of running a graveyard shift at its local assembly plants across the country.
Still, the reduced production has been offset by overseas plants whose production jumped 17.8 percent to 245,850 units.
