SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- The following are the key events in negotiations between South Korea and Turkey for a free trade agreement (FTA) that will take effect on May 1.
June -- South Korea and Turkey launch a joint study on the feasibility of signing a bilateral free trade agreement.
Sept. 25 -- The first South Korea-Turkey joint meeting on the outcome of their feasibility study is held in Seoul.
March 26 -- The second South Korea-Turkey joint meeting is held in Ankara.
May -- The joint feasibility study on the FTA ends.
Feb. 19 -- A public hearing on the Korea-Turkey FTA is held.
March 19 -- South Korea and Turkey agree to launch official negotiations on the proposed FTA.
April 26-30 -- The first round of South Korea-Turkey FTA talks is held in Ankara.
July 19-23 -- The second round of FTA negotiations between South Korea and Turkey is held in Seoul.
March 7-11 -- The third round of FTA talks is held in Ankara.
March 7-10 -- South Korea and Turkey hold their fourth round of FTA talks in Seoul.
March 26 -- South Korea and Turkey tentatively sign their bilateral free trade agreement.
Aug. 1 -- The Korea-Turkey FTA is officially signed.
Aug. 29 -- The South Korean government submits a bill on the ratification of the Korea-Turkey FTA to the South Korean parliament.
Nov. 22 -- South Korea's National Assembly ratifies the Korea-Turkey FTA.
April 1 -- South Korea and Turkey announce their FTA will take effect on May 1, 2013.
