SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Park Geun-hye plans to make a state visit to Britain later this year at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II, the presidential office said Monday.
Park's trip will be made in the fall, her spokeswoman Kim Haing said, adding that the two sides are in talks to work out details and the specific dates of the trip will be fixed later.
The presidential office decided to make the travel announcement several months in advance because Britain wanted to make the planned state visit public this week around the 60th anniversary of the queen's coronation, the spokeswoman said.
Park's visit reflects the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries as they mark the 130th anniversary of relations this year, Kim said.
Park will stay at Buckingham Palace as is traditional with state visits, Kim said.
