SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- President Park Geun-hye disavowed any link to the National Intelligence Agency's alleged attempt to influence December's presidential election, stressing she had no knowledge of the acts, nor did she benefit from the alleged wrongdoing.
Park made the remark in response to a demand from the main opposition Democratic Party that she state her position on the allegations that the intelligence agency mobilized some of its agents to write postings on the Internet to affect the election.
"I do not know at all why such an incident happened or why (they) did that," Park was quoted by her senior presidential press secretary Lee Jung-hyun as saying. "During the presidential election, the NIS gave no help and I received no help from the NIS."
But Park also said that she believes suspicions surrounding the scandal should be resolved.
