SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-biggest automaker, said Monday that its sales rose 2 percent in June from a year earlier on the back of brisk overseas sales.
Kia sold 236,992 units in June, compared with 232,281 units the previous year, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Its overseas sales rose 4.8 percent on-year to 199,292 units in June, offsetting a 10.5 percent on-year drop in domestic sales. Kia sold 37,700 vehicles last month in the domestic market.
In the first half, Kia sold 1.45 million cars, up 3.5 percent from a year earlier, it added.
Kia and its larger sister company Hyundai Motor Co. together form the world's fifth-largest automaker.
