LOS ANGELES, July 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top automaker Hyundai Motor Co. said Tuesday that sales of its cars edged up 2 percent in the United States in June from a year earlier.
Hyundai Motor sold 65,007 vehicles in the United States in June, including 22,163 units of the Elantra, a compact model, according to the carmaker.
Meanwhile, Kia Motors Corp., said it sold 50,536 units in June, down 1.5 percent from a year ago.
Kia, the smaller sister company of Hyundai Motor, said it sold 1,001 units of its flagship Cadenza sedan in June, just two months after the carmaker introduced the model in the U.S.
Hyundai and Kia are the two major flagship units of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group, the world's fifth-largest carmaker.
