SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest flat TV maker, has showcased an Ultra HD (UHD) television with a curved display, the world's first of its kind, proving its dominant leadership in the global TV market.
The 55-inch and 65-inch UHD TVs were revealed in Berlin on Wednesday, one day before the opening of the IFA 2013, the largest consumer electronics trade show in Europe.
Samsung said the new TV sets will be a milestone that opens a new era of next generation TV by invigorating the UHD TV market and meets various consumer demands.
The curved UHD TV is more difficult to produce compared with the curved OLED TV due to the panel characteristics, according to Samsung.
Samsung Electronics recently rolled out curved OLED TVs in several countries, including the U.S. and Germany.
