SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) -- FC Seoul advanced to the semifinals at the AFC Champions League Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia.
At Seoul World Cup Stadium, Dejan Damjanovic scored the winner for FC Seoul in the 89th minute in the second leg of the quarterfinals at the top Asian club football competition.
The South Korean club reached the final four on the aggregate score of 2-1 after two meetings. FC Seoul and Al Ahli had played to a 1-1 draw in Saudi Arabia last month.
FC Seoul had failed to advance beyond the quarterfinals in its two earlier trips in 2009 and 2011.
Al Ahli was the runner-up to Ulsan Hyundai Tigers, also a South Korean club, at last year's AFC Champions League.
The K League Classic has produced three of the past four AFC Champions League winners. FC Seoul is the lone South Korean club left at this year's tournament.
