SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- Freestyle skier Seo Jung-hwa will shake off a neck injury and enter the second qualification round for ladies' moguls at the Sochi Winter Olympics, South Korean officials said Friday.
Seo missed the first qualification round at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park on Thursday following a fall on her landing during a practice run. She complained of dizziness afterward but has been cleared to compete in the second round, scheduled for Saturday, after suffering a light bruise to her cervical vertebrae.
Thirty skiers were scheduled to compete in the first round, and 26 were able to finish their runs. Of those 26, the top 10 skiers secured their spots in the final round. The rest will vie for 10 additional spots in the final in the second qualification round.
At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Seo ranked 21st in the qualification, just one spot out of the final.
Her 19-year-old cousin, Seo Jee-won, scored 15.95 points in the opening round to rank 24th among 26 skiers who completed their runs on Thursday.
The Sochi Winter Games will formally kick off with the opening ceremony later on Friday.
