SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- LG Electronics Inc.'s latest smartphone, the G3, has shown best battery performance, a market researcher said Tuesday after comparisons with Samsung, Apple and other rivals.
Online researcher Phone Arena said the battery life of LG's 5.5-inch smartphone came to 8 hours, 50 minutes when the device was running only basic functions, including web surfing.
The duration was longer than the 8 hours, 20 minutes of its biggest rival, Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy S5. Sony Corp.'s Xperia Z2 and HTC's One M8 showed 8 hours, 10 minutes, and 7 hours, 12 minutes, respectively. Apple Inc.'s iPhone 5s lasted 5 hours, 2 minutes.
While it took 120 minutes for the G3 battery to be fully charged, it took 122 minutes for the Galaxy S5, 207 minutes for the One M8 and 212 minutes for the Xperia Z2.
Industry watchers said the result was significant considering that the G3, which adopted the industry's first high-resolution 2,560X1,440 Quad HD display, was expected to use up a lot of power.
Launched on May 28, LG said it aims to sell more than 10 million units of the model. The device, highlighted by a simpler interface and design that put all the buttons in the back, has been receiving good reviews from home and abroad.
