'Skyfall' hit its fifth weekend, with $11 million in sales, bringing its worldwide total to $918 million, the New York Daily News reported.

More from GlobalPost: James Bond film 'Skyfall' grosses $87.8 million in first three days

The film now ranks as Sony Pictures' highest grossing movie of all time, the Post said, beating out the closest runner-up "Spider-Man 3."

It is the 23rd film in the long-running franchise and stars Daniel Craig as 007. The Bond films are celebrating 50 years on the silver screen this year.

"I've never seen this exact trajectory on a movie — returning to first place after dropping out three weeks ago," Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com told the Post. "'Twilight' opened bigger, but 'Skyfall' has been building because of word of mouth."

USA TODAY wrote "Rise of the Guardians" took second place at the American box office this week, followed by "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2"  and Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln."
