Brazil: Police brutality caught on camera

Several police officers in the state of Amazonas were arrested yesterday, after security camera footage surfaced showing them surrounding a skinny teenage boy and then shooting him. The extremely disturbing footage released by Globo news is the kind of thing you hear rumors about but almost never see on tape. Prosecutors say the boy was shot at close range five times in the “chest area” last August, while his mother begged police not to kill him. The security camera video apparently only surfaced in February, prompting the investigation that lead to the arrests. Amazingly, the victim survived, and he and his family are now in a witness protection program.
