Pakistan PM to attend India match

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has accepted Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's invitation for the India-Pak Cricket World Cup semi-final in Mohali, Punjab, on Wednesday, reports NDTV.

Obviously, this was a ticket that nobody in India or Pakistan could refuse (even the "other Geelani" up there in Srinagar, most likely). But how much diplomacy can be accomplished during a "war without the shooting"?  I wonder.  Especially given the skepticism about the real power of Pakistan's elected government.

Maybe the Indian army should have invited General Kayani (head of the Pakistan military) instead?

According to Pakistan's top English newspaper, Dawn, I wasn't the only one with a nervous stomach about the prospects of an India defeat, which would mean Pakistan would be playing for all the marbles in Mumbai during what was supposed to be India's year.
