Chris Kelly dead: Kris Kross star dies at 34 (VIDEO)

Chris Kelly, one half of '90s rap duo Kris Kross, died in an Atlanta hospital of a suspected drug overdose.

Kris Kross star Chris Kelly has died from a suspected overdose at the age of 34.

Kelly, one half of the rap duo best known for their 1992 hit 'Jump,' passed away in a hospital in Atlanta, Ga., his family said.

He was pronounced dead there shortly after he was found unresponsive at his south Atlanta home.

An autopsy will be carried out Thursday to establish the cause of death, but police said they suspected a "possible drug overdose."

Alongside Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith, Kelly – aka "Mac Daddy" – won a record contract even before he was a teenager, after being discovered in an Atlanta mall.

The pair came to fame at the age of 13 with their debut album 'Totally Krossed Out.' They would go on to release two more albums, tour with Michael Jackson and release their own video game before splitting up in the late 1990s.

Kelly and Smith reunited this year for what would be their final performance, at the So So Def label's 20th anniversary concert in February.

"To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trend-setting, backward pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross, who loved making music," a joint statement from Kelly's mother and So So Def said.

"But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party."
