Comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are the hosts of Sunday's Golden Globe Awards at Los Angeles's Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The pair are nominated for their comedy work in the television hits "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation" respectively.

The 70th annual awards ceremony for film and television, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was formed in 1943 as a way for international journalists to gain access to Hollywood stars, Reuters reported.

The nominees for the best foreign language film are "Amour," "A Royal Affair," "The Intouchables," "Kon-Tiki," and  "Rust and Bone."

English actor Daniel Day-Lewis is up for best actor for his portrayal of Lincoln in the Steven Spielberg's presidential biopic, the BBC reported, along side Richard Gere for "Arbitrage," John Hawkes for "The Sessions," Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master," and Denzel Washington for his role in "Flight."

The British television drama "Downton Abbey" is up for three awards, including best drama.

British singer Adele, who is nominated for best original song for her James Bond "Skyfall" track, is slated to make her first public appearance since giving birth in October, the BBC wrote.

Taiwanese-born American Ang Lee' is among those up for best director for his adaption of the Yann Martel novel "Life of Pi."

Fun fact: Meryl Streep has won eight Globes, the most of any actor, Reuters said. In 1973, Marlon Brando refused his best actor award for "The Godfather" to protest American "imperialism and racism."
