Kris Jenner's breast implant talk replaced 9/11 silence on NBC'S 'Today' show

Kris Jenner's appearance on NBC during the 9/11 moment of silence has NBC taking harsh criticism.

Kris Jenner, the matriarch of reality television family the Kardashians, was on NBC's 'Today' show talking about, among other things, her breast implants.

While the topic is no doubt enthralling to some, the timing may have been a little off: it happened to coincide with the United States' official moment of silence in honor of the September 11 terror attacks.

While the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority Police and the families of the victims were present in New York and President Obama and First Lady Michelle led the memorial silence in Washington, all of America's cable networks were broadcasting, including ABC’s "Good Morning America" and "CBS This Morning," MediaBistro's TV Newser reported

NBC's lack of coverage (highlighted in this video by New York Magazine) stood out like a sore thumb, and the decision to skip the memorial gesture has drawn some harsh criticism of the network, Fox News reported

"It will leave a lot of people with a bad taste and that could over time translate into a loss of viewers,” Senior Editor at the Hollywood Reporter Alex Ben Block told Fox News. "It is clear NBC needs to do things that make them stand out, but this stunk up their image instead, at a time they need to be in image repair mode.”

The slip-up has even resurrected the Twitter hash-tag that began with the network's disappointing delayed Olympics coverage, #NBCfail

But NBC has stood by their decision to not cut to the moment of silence, Ace Showbiz reported

"The 'Today' show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show," a spokeswoman for the network said.
