Mariah Carey is reportedly in "serious talks" to fill the seat left empty by Jennifer Lopez on American Idol.
This morning GlobalPost reported that Lopez announced she would be the second judge in as many days to leave "American Idol", joining Steven Tyler in exiting the top-rated TV show.
An unnamed source spilled the beans to People Magazine on the potential new Idol judge saying she is, "in serious talks, she's in play."
Another source told US Weekly that it is almost a done deal.
The US Weekly source added that along with Lopez and Tyler's departures, Randy Jackson, an original American Idol Judge as well as Carey's real life music manager, will move more into a mentor role. Boston.com noted that Jackson even hinted at Carey becoming a judge back in February when he commented that she would make an amazing judge for Idol's rival program 'The X Factor.'
Other celebrities who are rumored to be in the mix to fill Tyler's seat include other celebs who have been considered to sit at the judges' table include Fergie and American Idol alumni Adam Lambert.
