Party rockers LMFAO are on hiatus as the musical duo takes time out to pursue solo projects. LMFAO's Redfoo confirmed to AP that he's taking a break from his musical partner and nephew Sky Blu as they each pursue other interests.

"I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time," Redfoo, 37, told AP in phone interview earlier this week.

LMFAO shot to the top of the charts in 2009 with their debut album Party Rock. Their follow up, Sorry for Party Rock, had two #1 mega-hits, "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It".

Redfoo told NBC News that he and SkyBlu have begun moving in "different directions," adding, "I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we're always family."

What's next for Redfoo? Musically, he told Rolling Stone that he's working on some solo material that is "LMFAO-ish".

"I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music," he said.

But the crazy-haired musician is also pursuing his other passion - sports.

He's been writing a song for the New England Patriots and performed at some tour dates for the U.S. women's gymnastic team. Redfoo is also planning his own tennis clothing line and sponsoring the United States Tennis Association's Party Rock Open in Las Vegas.

He's even trying his hand as a tennis coach, working with Las Vegas-based junior player Ayaka Okuno.

"I kind of use the Phil Jackson approach which I teach her some vague things – I teach her how to think for herself on the court," Redfoo said. "She's really good at self-analyzing."

According to Rolling Stone, LMFAO dismissed rumors back in April that the duo were splitting up. "It's completely false. We're family at the end of the day. Blood is stronger than anything," said SkyBlu.

The pair have not said when, or if, they will start rocking again.
