More from GlobalPost: 'Django Unchained' Hollywood premiere canceled after Newtown shooting

"Django Unchained" opens Christmas Day and has already received criticism for its excessive violence.

"I cant speak on it 'cause I'm not gonna see it," Lee told Vibe magazine. "All I'm going to say is that it's disrespectful to my ancestors. That's just me...I'm not speaking on behalf of anybody else."

CBS News reported the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Jamie Foxx "as a former slave-turned-bounty hunter who sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation owner."

As GlobalPost reported, in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings in Newtown, Conn., the film's premiere was canceled and Foxx spoke out against violence in the film industry, saying Hollywood must make movies responsibly.

The movie has already received five Golden Globe nominations, CBS noted.
