Who fans in Rhode Island disappointed in 1979 are getting their chance to rock out with Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry.

Concert promoters said Wednesday they would honor unused tickets from The Who’s cancelled Providence concert three decades ago.

Dunkin Donuts Center general manager Lawrence Lepore said many fans received refunds in 1979, but he’s sure there must be some around.

“Somewhere, someplace, someone’s got it stashed,” Lepore told Fox News. “The question is, are they willing to give that up? If they are, we’re willing to take it.”

The Who will play Providence on Feb. 26.

Providence Mayor Vincent A. (Buddy) Cianci scrubbed the 1979 appearance after 11 fans died at The Who’s Cincinnati show earlier in the tour, The Associated Press said.

Cianci cancelled The Who’s appearance 33 years ago because of safety concerns.

This will be the band’s first appearance in Rhode Island since then.

The Who had played Rhode Island in 1975.

Tickets in 1979 were about $14. For next year’s show, they start at $57.50 and top out at $127.50.

Money raised from the publicity stunt will benefit Special Olympics, The Providence Journal reported.

“It’s got to be worth something,” Lepore told the Journal.
